Progress of electromobility

Electromobility, which was a niche solution just a few years ago, is now becoming more and more common and accessible to a wide group of users. The technological and infrastructural progress that has recently taken place in Poland and around the world is impressive.

Technological progress

One of the key areas of progress in electromobility is the development of battery and chargers. Modern lithium-ion batteries have an increasing capacity while reducing their weight and volume. The introduction of fast charging technology allows for a significant reduction in the time of this operation.

For example, chargers from the Polish brand Lenergizee have appeared on the market. These products promise fast charging and fulfill this promise, as shown by the conducted research, making it easier to use an electric car.

Further and further on a single charge

Fast charging also translates into the possibility of driving for many hours over long distances. Thanks to this, today, traveling on holiday by electric car is becoming an increasingly popular choice.

From Poland to the Adriatic with a break for two short charges

Modern electric cars can boast a range exceeding 500 km on a single charge. This makes electromobility a real alternative to combustion cars, even on long routes.

For example, in 2024, to travel the route from Warsaw to the Adriatic (1,176 km) two charges of 45 and 25 minutes will be enough (according to tests with the latest electric Volkswagen). In 2018, the same charging time was only enough to cover the route from Warsaw to Gdańsk (415 km).

A few years like an era

This shows how much has changed in recent years. And we can expect even more. A realistic assumption is that in the near future, drivers will be able to choose car variants with batteries with a capacity of 100-150 kWh and charging power in the range of 200-400 kW. Thanks to this, covering the route from Warsaw to the Adriatic will take place with only one, approximately 30-minute stop.

Infrastructure development

Both in Poland and around the world, dynamic development of the network of charging stations is observed. The number of points is growing at a rapid pace. In our country alone, at the end of March 2024, 6,490 publicly available charging stations were already operating.

Summary

Technological progress and the development of electromobility infrastructure in Poland and around the world make it an increasingly real choice for everyday users and people traveling longer distances. The development of battery technology and charging networks significantly contributes to the popularization of electric cars.

FAQ

What is electromobility?

Electromobility is the use of electric vehicles as an alternative to combustion cars that use electricity from batteries.

What are the most important areas of progress in electromobility?

The most important areas of progress are the development of lithium-ion battery technology and chargers, which allow for longer routes and faster charging.

Are electric cars already a real alternative to combustion cars?

Yes, thanks to modern batteries and fast charging, electric cars can cover long routes, e.g. from Warsaw to the Adriatic with only one or two short stops on the charging.

How is the charging infrastructure developing in Poland?

The charging infrastructure is developing dynamically; at the end of March 2024, there were already 6,490 publicly available charging stations in Poland.

What can we expect in the future in terms of electromobility?

In the near future, we can expect cars with batteries with a capacity of 100-150 kWh and charging with a power in the range of 200-400 kW, which will enable even faster and more comfortable travel.
