Poland is intensifying its efforts to develop electromobility. The recruitment for subsidies related to the development of charging infrastructure and zero-emission trucks will be opened soon.
The funds from the Modernization Fund are to be divided into several programs managed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW).
Although in many countries zero-emission vehicles have been effectively replacing traditional combustion cars for years, in Poland their market share is still negligible.
New subsidy programs are to change this. Increasing the availability of charging stations is to motivate entrepreneurs to choose ecological solutions.
Not one, but two infrastructure programs
One of the main areas of support planned by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management is the development of a charging network for heavy transport. The first program provides for the construction of 550 publicly available charging stations in strategic locations - along the TEN-T network, in logistics centers, operating bases and intermodal terminals. PLN 2 billion has been allocated for this purpose, with the possibility of obtaining up to 100% funding for qualified projects.
The second program covers the construction and expansion of power networks necessary to support high-power charging stations. The initiative is to introduce 50 power points that will provide adequate current capacity for fast charging infrastructure. Funding for distribution system operators may amount to 100% of investment costs, and the program will last until the end of 2025.
Zero-emission truck program and NaszEauto
The second pillar of funding is a program encouraging the purchase or leasing of zero-emission N2 and N3 category vehicles. The budget is another PLN 2 billion, and the launch is planned for the second quarter of 2025. This initiative aims to increase the number of electric and hydrogen trucks on Polish roads, which will certainly contribute to reducing exhaust emissions, noise, and improving air quality.
At the same time, the "NaszEauto" program, supporting the purchase of electric cars for individuals and sole proprietors, is very popular. In the first month of recruitment alone, over 1,300 applications were submitted for a total amount of PLN 39 million.
New funding opportunities create a real chance to significantly accelerate the development of electromobility infrastructure and implement ecological transport solutions. The recruitment process that will start soon will be a significant impulse for companies and institutions planning to invest in modern transport technologies.
